Paige's Party: A Christening Reception in Chatham, NJ

We were so excited when we recieved the call from Laura about the planning of her daughter's post christening luncheon at the Chatham Fish & Game (where they are new members). When we heard that she chose us to plan such a special celebration, we were overfilled with joy!

Our client, Laura, knew that she didn't want the standard christening colors but she definitely wanted the color palette to include pink and white. She loves the website called Hen House Linens, so we decided to use two patterns from their collection:

Dahlia Blush Pink

Spot on Raspberry

In choosing these patterns, Laura purchased all the table runners for the tables. We decided to alternate tables with the two different patterns. We ordered full length white linens with a few red/white polka dotted overlays for the specialty tables along with cool red napkins from Party Rentals, Ltd. I was always taught in all my design classes in college (and while working with the very talented interior designer, Mary O'Brien Cabaron) to take one element, whether it be a painting for a room or a fabric and tie in all the pieces together using different shades of the color and a blend of textures. Like an outfit, you style your house and your event.

After making these selections, we took our fabrics over to Cathy at Conroy's Florist and selected our florals-white hydrangea, red and coral roses with greens. The space at Chatham Fish & Game is neutral, which offers a great blank slate for us to add in a variety of decor and color. We chose shades of pink, coral, red and white paper lanterns to hang from the wood beams at our venue to really make use of the high ceilings. Our color palette was complete: Shades of pink, coral, cool red, white with accents of green.

Planning the seasonal menu with What a dish catering was fun! With so many kids attending the event, we had a special children's menu in addition to the regular menu.

Children’s Menu: Chicken Fingers with Ketchup, Macaroni & Cheese, Mini Cheese Pizzas, French Fries , Fruit Skewers

Adult Menu: Baby Arugula & Spinach Salad with Dried Apples, Cranberries & Sparkling Cider Vinaigrette, Bow Tie Pasta, Dandelion Greens, Butternut Squash & Pepito Pesto, Tagliatelle with Crème Fraiche, Lemon, Arugula, Nutmeg & Romano, Bourbon Brushed Salmon, Chopped Cashew Fried Sage, Buttermilk Brined Chicken, Watercress & Shallots, Haricot Vert with Alder Smoked Sea Salt, An Assortment of Bread, Herb de Provence Butter

Wine, beer, lemonade (with fun pink/white straws), soda and bellini's were served.

For dessert, we turned to our friends over at Pink Cake Box and we worked with them on designing a beautiful blush colored cake..with layers of red velvet cake with vanilla icing and chocolate cake with peanut butter icing - holy, yumm! Cake was served on Laura's beautiful and eclectic collections of antique china plates, which was such a nice, personal touch!

Laura knew she wanted to have an activity for the kids, we decided to have a scrapbook station set up for everyone to create a "Page for Paige." We also brought in Infinity Entertainment who provided us with a fun, closed photo booth (with no props), large enough to fit an entire family! Guests had a blast taking pictures and creating a page for Paige's memory book. They received two photo strips, one for the scrapbook and the other to take home in a frame as a favor.

I (Stacey) truly enjoyed every meeting I had with Laura and baby Paige (she attended mostly all of them) and look forward to our next event with them. Leslie and I had so much fun being a part of such a special day for the Bojanowski's, thanks again for choosing Peony Events!  It was so great to work with someone so creative who really let us have fun with the decor! Weddings that Sparkle

Happy Wedding Wednesday, everyone!

Who doesn't love weddings that sparkle?! We think sparklers add such a fun, nice touch to a wedding! Perfect for weddings the week of 4th of July and New Year's Eve.

Love the idea? Here are a few ways to implement them into your special day.

1. {The Sparkler Send-Off} - gather guests outside,  have your wedding planner place several pillar candles in heavy, tall glass-vases outside and light them (this eliminates the need for lighters and a person to light several dozen sparklers). Each guest will hold their sparkler over the flame and proceed to pass on the sparks. Have a disposal place ready, large containers partially filled with sand, provide as a great outlet to put out those sparks. It's a beautifully bright and festive way of bidding adieu to your guests after a joyous reception. Make sure to have your photographer on board with the timeline to be sure to capture the moment. We think this is the perfect way to send the newlyweds off on their first night as husband as wife.

{FYI} Sparklers are classified by the US Government as “Novelties”. Thus, by definition, sparklers are not defined as consumer fireworks. Because wedding sparklers are classified as a novelty, they can be shipped legally through US Postal System without the need of special and complicated hazmat (hazardous material) paperwork or special packaging.

Most US states allow the use of sparklers and other items classified as novelties, however, there are a few states that preclude their use even though they are not classified as consumer fireworks. It’s always a good idea to check your local state and county laws before enjoying sparklers or including them in your wedding. A good place to start is by calling your local fire department or Fire Marshall directly. When in doubt, you should always call to find out.

Where to find them?  Visit, sparklersonline.com or weddingdaysparkles.com.

Let us know if you will be having sparklers at your wedding, we would love to hear from you!

Wishing you a fun and safe 4th of July - ENJOY!
