Travel Inspirations + Rustic Romance

Room with a view, as I sit hear sipping a house blend Starbucks overlooking Lake Placid, I can’t help but feel inspired. Picture a cozy house, very rustic, wood beam ceilings, Ralph Lauren décor, wood burning fireplace, antler chandeliers and pinecone candles. The town here is amazing and its surroundings.

It brings me to a time in my career in fashion; when I was sitting in Diane von Furstenberg’s (DVF) NYC showroom, captivated by her new designs and listening to her tell stories of her travels and most recent collections. I was enlightened to hear her say that most of her journeys transform into a future collection; nature photos become prints, an architectural design becomes a handbag, and a vegetable market a color palette. From that moment, she wasn't just one of my favorite designers, she became an idol, not for her talent, but because of her passion. She taught me to not only appreciate the beauty in life, but to apply it.

Diane in 1973, at the peak of her career.

"In all circumstances, I always look for the light and build around it, with little memory of pain." - Diane Von Furstenberg, Diane: A Signature Life: My Adventures in Fashion, Business, and Life

People always ask, what sets you apart from all the other NJ event planners? Well, through my life, I have implemented this way of thinking to all of my events. Location, venue, and theme all have a strong impact on what goes into a well-planned event design. Signature drinks customized accordingly, décor, textured fabrics, color palettes, etc. I have a passion for what I do and I can thank DVF for letting me in on her fabulous life and how she got to where she is today.

With that being said, feeling extremely inspired with my current journey and considering I’m celebrating my one year anniversary, I put together some inspirations for a rustic romance wedding.

I hope you all enjoy!

Wedding Invitations

Letterpressed invites in classic colors (black & ivory) are still as popular and
elegant as ever (letterpress is my personal favorite, in any color). But if you want to go for something a little more unexpected,  invitation designers definitely have color and printing options for you. Remember that your invitation starts the tone of your event or party.

The Trend:
Use colors in a new and unexpected way on your invites by reversing the typical
invitation color scheme. For example, rather than using blue lettering on a
cream-colored invite, opt for cream print on blue paper. Or mix it up -- do the
cream-colored invite with blue writing, and then a bright blue reply card with a
cream-colored font. Consider the material of your invite as well. One
hot-off-the-press idea: Get fabric-printed invites, programs, and escort cards
for a laid-back look perfect for summer.
