In September 2012, our client’s “Boardwalk Chic” wedding was held at this one-of-a-kind venue. Liza + Jon are such a “cool” couple—by day, they’re both professionals in NYC, by night/weekend, together in a band called The Normal Life-could they be any cuter? They really wanted to capture their fun personalities into the theme of their wedding and throw a BIG cocktail party (we’re seeing more and more of this trend) to enjoy the entire day with their friends and family, without many interruptions.
The location was simple, they both love Asbury Park and frequent there in the summer. Watermark was the perfect venue to set their wedding vibe-located on the boardwalk with the perfect beach backdrop for their ultra hip band, linen colored couches for lounge-style seating, and gorgeous dark hardwood floors. We accented their existing décor with white floral and a touch of turquoise.
No formal sit-down dinner allowed! It was important to Liza + Jon to have the perfect flow during the reception–arrive, eat & DANCE! Guests enjoyed an anti-pasta station while boardwalk-themed bites were passed, followed by martini-filled mini meals—filet mignon over portabella infused mashed potatoes, eggplant rollatini with penne vodka, and crab cakes with saffron rice-yummy. Dessert-chocolate covered strawberries and beach-themed cupcakes, baked by the bride’s sister.
I can tell you that guests are still raving about the fun they had at this fabulous wedding and we can’t wait to plan our next event at Watermark Asbury Park. Oh, and if you’re a Bachelor Pad fan, look closely, you may see someone you know in the wedding party. 😉
