Happy Love Your Pet Day!! In honor of today's special day, we thought it was the perfect time to discuss pets on your wedding day! It's no surprise that we are animal lovers here at Peony Events (we all have dogs)!!

The most important thing about incorporating pets into a wedding is to keep the stress levels as low as possible—both for you and your pet. It can be overwhelming to your furry friend with the large crowds and not being able to be next to you on your special day, you never know what you will get.

A few tips on how to incorporate your pets into your special day:

• Training is key, train your animal. Make sure they come to the rehearsal and run through it several times. After all, practice makes perfect.

• Assign a pet sitter for the day or some venues require that your four-legged friends leave immediately after the ceremony. Check listing for local dog walkers or contact your vet for referrals.

• Be sure to let your photographer know in advance notice if you'll be taking special pictures with your pets on your special day.

• Make sure to bring food and water. And remember plenty of treats: Dogs work really well when you bribe them to do what you want!

• Some pets make a great ring bearer or flower girl. If you use them as a ring bearer, you can do a ring pillow around their neck. If you do this, though, use fake rings rather than tying on the real rings. Have the best man stick the real rings in his pocket.

• For a dog on a leash, you can put a nice thick ribbon around their collar and flowers up the leash that match the wedding colors.

• For pets that don’t do well on a leash, paint and decorate a wagon in your color scheme, and put a ‘Here comes the bride’ sign on the back. Then have a mature flower girl, ring bearer or junior bridesmaid pull the wagon with the pets inside.

Ideas to do in spirit of your furry friends:

• Snap photos of your pets holding a sign around their neck or in their mouth with the table numbers. Then frame them and place them on the tables.

• In lieu of favors, make a donation to your favorite animal charity.

• Do a dessert buffet and include treats for your guests’ pets. You can have a sign that says something like “A treat for your four-legged friend, too.”

• Arrange a post photo shoot with your furry family members.

We would love to hear how you are incorporating pets into your special day!!

NJ Wedding Planner, Stacey Sainato's Interview with Wedding Lovely

NJ Wedding Planner, Stacey Sainato from Peony Event's interview on Wedding Lovely.

Thank you to the lovely, Tracy, from WeddingLovely for the fabulous interview of NJ wedding planner, Stacey Sainato from Peony Events! We are truly honored to be one of the WeddingLovely approved NJ wedding planner vendors!

NJ Wedding Planner

Tell us a bit about yourself and your company:

My career began in the fashion world. I dedicated a decade to the fashion and luxury goods industry, planning events for top designers including Michael Kors, Giorgio Armani and David Yurman. After fashion, I leaped into corporate event planning where I produced large-scale conferences and traveled to some of the top resorts nationwide. It wasn’t until the planning of my own wedding that I (a hopeless romantic) realized my true passion—weddings!! Peony Events was established with love in 2011.

We create and produce one-of-a-kind, personalized and exquisite events customized with the style and personality of the bride and groom. Our creative team of planners and designers will bring your vision to life and produce the event of your dreams.
From start to finish, our goal is to create a package that will ensure both the bride & groom enjoy their entire day to the fullest. We are here to make their lives easy and lead them every step of the way. While they are spending time with friends and family we will be behind the scenes making sure they have a relaxed and blissful wedding day experience.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

Everything! I’ll narrow it down to my top 3:

  1. The Story—I love hearing their “story.” Each couple is so unique and their wedding day should reflect their personalities. By getting to know my clients, I can better understand their vision for their special day.
  2. The Design—since my background is in fashion & design, I love producing their personal fairytale fashion show. From assisting my bride to find the gown of her dreams, to styling the entire wedding party and selecting the color story, floral & décor. Watching it all come to life the day of the wedding is truly magical. When I see the bride and groom’s face when they walk into the room, the feeling is priceless.
  3. The First Dance—such a special moment to capture the newlywed love. I love watching them take in each other, without a care in the world, as if they are the only two in the room. I tear up every time.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned, and would pass along to other new wedding planners just getting started?

Be prepared for anything and everything. From rain at an outdoor ceremony, to a bride who has red wine spilled on her dress–anything is possible and you are the go to person who is prepared and ready to take action.

Recently, I received a panicked call from a bride the morning of her wedding. She lived in San Diego, but was having her wedding in New Jersey. She realized she forgot her earrings and asked if I had any for her “something borrowed.” I quickly located and packed up my bridal earrings as well as a few other pairs that would match her gown. Luckily, she found a pair that suited her perfectly.

What are your hobbies or non-work-related activities?

Being active, spending time with my husband and our two yorkies and visiting quaint towns to find unique pieces for our home.

Any great stories from working with a client?

We had a secret ceremony once; no one knows to this day that the couple was actually married prior to their “wedding day,” except the Reverend, my husband and I (since we were their witnesses).

What is your current favorite color combination?

Pantone’s Grayed Jade & Linen-soft, romantic & neutral. Perfect for a spring garden wedding! Read about it in our blog here.

Are there any trends that you absolutely love or would love to see brides leave behind?

We love the ombre weddings. Bridesmaids wearing colors from light to dark + floral centerpieces.

Brooch bouquets, I just think bouquets are meant for flowers. If bride’s want to incorporate a few into the mix, that’s ok, but we’re all about the blossoming bouquets.

Tips For Rainy Day Weddings

Wedding day forecast: RAIN.

We’ve never come across a couple who was wishing for a wedding day filled with rain; however, it’s always a possibility. Instead of stressing about the tears of mother nature, embrace the fact, be prepared and make the best of it. Preparation is good not only for you mentally but also for your wedding party & guests. After all, they do say it's good luck and we all need a little luck..

If you’re having your wedding at an outdoor venue, you most certainly need to have a plan B in place. By having a professional wedding planner to help plan your wedding this plan B will already be in place. You can also utilize the help of a Day of Coordinator to assist on the day of your wedding, as we have plenty of first-hand experience in dealing with rainy day weddings. Check out our tips for rainy day weddings!

{Plan B Updates}

Include a separate inclement weather card. This card goes out with your wedding invitations. If you are planning a wedding during a rainy season then this card is a must have. This card will have information on it pertaining to what the Plan B is. It may be an alternate location along with directions. It can also include a contact phone number to call 24 hours in advance to determine if in fact the plan B will be utilized.

If it’s not during a rainy season, you could have Plan B information put on your welcome letter or on your wedding website.

{Tent Rentals}

Reserve a tent. Most tent rental companies only require a deposit to reserve the tent and you can get the deposit back if you cancel within a few days of the wedding. This gives you the added security in knowing if you need the tent it is on reserve.

{Umbrellas}

If rainy weather is in the forecast have plenty of golf size umbrellas on hand for guests to use during the ceremony if no alternate area can be arranged. Even if you have an alternate indoor/covered location ushers can use umbrellas to escort guests from their vehicles to the

covered area. Purchasing umbrellas in coordinating wedding colors will make for beautiful rainy day wedding photos! {www.bellaumbrella.com} You could also stick umbrellas in drinks to play on the day!

{Rain Boots}

Great bridal party gifts, can always return them if the rain holds off! Your bridesmaids will be so grateful that they do not have to walk through puddles in their heels! Plus, who doesn’t need another pair of cute rubber rain boots! Check out the photo below with the red Hunters, Laura from Billingham Photography, lent her bride these fun and appropriate boots before taking her out for her portrait-we love when photographers offer extra ah-mazing props! Kudos, Laura!

{Rubber Ducks}

Embrace the Rain! Have cute props that you can incorporate into your wedding photos/photo booth such as rubber duckies and toy boats to place in puddles of rain to really reflect that you didn’t let the weather ruin your beautiful day.

{Alternative Photo Plans}

Talk to your photographer and find out alternative, unique places in case your planned outdoor photo sessions have to be re-routed indoors. Take this as an opportunity to be really creative, an art gallery, museum, etc.
